Thermal joining / welding servicesThermal joining or welding refers to the processes used to permanently join 2 or more metal workpieces by placing the edges of the workpieces to be joined together against each other and simultaneously introducing a gaseous or electric high heat source to both edges to above their melting temperature so that the metal from each piece flows together. Another thermal joining method introduces “filler” metal which is heated to its melting point and then used to join the heated edges of the workpieces together The thermal joining process leaves a residual “slag” that must be removed using a surface preparation process.
