Metal punching services at Midwest Metal Fabrication.

Punching is a shearing process of a closed contour shape in which a scrap slug is separated from the workpiece when the punch enters the die. Punching is usually used to put holes or slots in material.

Punching overview

Midwest Metal Fabrication uses presses and press brakes to form holes of all sizes and shapes, form recesses, and offsets in steel and aluminum.

We offer punching services to customers needing them. We operate a variety of punch sizes to assist our OEM customers to produce the custom fabricated metal parts their company requires. We use advanced and efficient punches to make us competitive for our punching services.

Press tonnage

Midwest Metal Fabrication’ punch presses range in capacity from 100 to 1,000 tons.

Size

Midwest Metal Fabrication’ punch presses can accommodate metal fabricating customers’ needs for a part size up to 23’ long, with no width restrictions.

Maximum sheet thickness / gauge

We can cold punch metals up to 1/2” if the punch size is 1/2”or greater.

Punching accuracy

Our presses can achieve a punching accuracy of +/- 1/32” for placement.

Materials punched

We normally punch steel and aluminum. Specific types of steel and aluminum include:

  • Aluminum (All Alloys)
  • Aluminum (T1/T2)
  • Cold Rolled Steel
  • Galvanized Steel
  • High Strength, Low Alloy, Steel
  • Hot Rolled Steel
  • Steel (All Alloys)

Dimensional tolerance

We can maintain a dimensional tolerance of +/- 1/32”.

Run size/volume

Midwest Metal Fabrication is capable of punching 60 pieces per hour.
