Plate bending services

Plate bending - photo

Plate bending services at Midwest Metal Fabrication.

Plate roll bending is a cold forming process. Plate or steel metal is formed into cylindrical shapes by using a combination of three or four rolls arranged in a pyramid formation. Two of the rolls are power driven, in a fixed position, while the third or fourth roll is adjustable to meet the required bend radius and workpiece thickness.

Bending/plate bending overview

Midwest Metal Fabrication offers heavy-duty bending/plate bending services to customers requiring these heavy-gauge metal-fabricating services. We operate a number of computer controlled, hydraulic plate benders to assist our OEM customers to produce formed metal shapes they need to meet their custom fabricated metal parts requirements. We can make bent plate parts or components on a repeatable basis. We can bend more shapes than standard three roll machines using our four roll bending equipment.

Shapes

Midwest Metal Fabrication can produce any types of round shapes including circular cylinders, flattened cylinders, and corrugated cylinders.

Materials

We most commonly fabricate hot rolled, cold rolled, stainless, T-1, and galvanized steel. We also can fabricate plate made out of various aluminum alloys, T2 aluminum, brass, copper, galvannealed, high strength low alloy steel.

Gauge

Midwest Metal Fabrication is capable of bending hot rolled, T-1, cold rolled, stainless steel and galvanized steel from 20-gauge to 7-gauge metal.

Rolls

Midwest Metal Fabrication is capable of bending plate rolls that are either flat or corrugated.

Tolerances

We can hold tolerance of +/- 1/16” on up to ¼” plate.

Width

We are capable of deforming plate up to 4’ wide.

Length

We are capable of deforming plate up to 20’ long.

Diameter

We can form cylinders with a minimum diameter of 15” and maximum diameter of 20’.

Production rate

We can process up to 15 pieces per hour of any thickness plate up to ¼”.

Tooling

Midwest Metal Fabrication does not have “standard” tooling to use on custom jobs. All our tooling is custom built to meet each customer’s job specifications. Every tool we create bends material of different thicknesses and dimensions, so please discuss your tooling needs with us.

Complementary services

We offer punching, assembly, welding, and painting services for our products or components we have created using our plate bending capabilities.
